Our annual member farm tour is scheduled for Saturday, August 2nd, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The tour is being hosted by Jerry & Vee Widener of Chilhowie, Virginia. Jerry & Vee have 300 Katahdin ewes. They have a spring and fall lambing flock. Their replacement ewes are purebred Katahdins, but most of the flock is crossbred with a terminal sire, using Texel Rams. They use rotational grazing. We will visit their working facilities.
Amy Roberts, representing the Conservation Management Institute, will have a 15-minute presentation.
The club would like members to bring a covered dish or dessert. The club will furnish the meat and drinks. Please email, text, or phone Cecil if you plan to attend.
